Opa

Today was my grandfather's funeral in Canada. I would have loved to be there, remembering him and my Oma.
But as I can't be there, I would like to share the words of my favorite church hymn with all of you.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
let this blest assurance control,
that Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
and hath shed his own blood for my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
the clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
even so, it is well with my soul.

  1. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my Grandpa several years ago and wasn't able to attend his funeral either, so I know how hard that is. I will be praying for you and your family.

  5. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my Opa 4 years ago this past Thanksgiving. I still have my Oma thankfully as I also lost my mom (their daughter) the father's day after Opa passed away. It is so nice to meet someone else who had an "Oma & Opa" though. Saying a prayer for you and sending big hugs! Hope you are enjoying VGNO =)
