My second giveaway!

I love crafting and sewing.

My sewing machine has a problem with the bobbin thingy, so I'm using my Mom's right now. It's a Pfaff sewing machine she bought right before we moved to Paraguay 28 years ago. We all learned how to sew on this machine. I've done some sewing for others the last few months, but I'll have to wait now, to see if my Brother sewing machine can be fixed soon.

Crocheting and knitting are also favorite hobbies of mine. I love drinking Maté (a kind of hot yerba tea) in the morning with my husband and my crocheting or knitting on something. I have made so many things over time. Bags, sweaters, tops, barbie dresses, scarves, slippers and lots more. I just wish our store would carry a bigger and better collection of wool and yarn. I find a lot of my patterns for free on the Internet or out of crafting magazines. The following websites have great patterns, check them out:

http://www.interweaveknits.com/

www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/kategori_oversikt.php

http://www.freepatterns.com/

There are many more. Just google it:)

I'll be finishing my newest project in the next few days, and will post some pictures of the original in the interweave magazine and of my version in different colors.

Now for my giveaway!

The lucky winner will receive a handmade bag. I made this bag (just as the last giveaway prize) for the craft show last year. Its made of recycled jeans (or repurposed?) and dusty rose lace and satin inserts.

It also has some decorative iron-on sequins on one side.

It's fully lined and even has a pocket on the inside.

Just like in my last giveaway, I'll be putting something else in the package before I send it. For anyone in my area, it will be something from my kitchen (cookies or a cake) and for any winner outside of Paraguay it will be a souvenir of Paraguay.

To enter in the drawing, you must:
1. Follow my blog.

2. Write a comment on this post and let me know what your favorite hobby or craft is. Please also let me know how to reach you if you win (email or blog address). (Entries of Paraguay: leave your full name so I can find your phone number or leave your e-mail address.)

You can enter by midnight of Friday, the 5. of February (that's a tongue-twister). I will randomly pick a winner on Saturday, and will post the winners name on my blog post that day.

Good luck!

  9. Love the bag! I'm a follower...count me in on the giveaway! :) I have an eclectic mix of crafty things I like to do - I like to make wine and Kahlua, restore antique (composition) dolls, make custom dolls, create gift baskets and I bought an embroidery machine I'm anxious to set up and start doing some cool unique projects with. So much to do, so little time! :)

  11. I definitely need to spend time on my families scrapbook. So many photos are just flailing around in boxes. I enjoy it and need to commit time to scrapbooking.

  12. What a cute bag! Thank you for giving us a chance to win it. :)

My favorite hobby is teaching myself how to sew. It's a slow process, but I'm learning. I've also started collecting vintage fabrics from thrift shops in hopes that I will one day have the skills to sew my own clothes. *fingers crossed*

  17. Hi there, I live here too (of course I'm on the southern end near Encarnacion). I love, love, love that bag and I'm now a follower! I'm not very crafty, honestly, but I do like to scrapbook on occasion and I definitely enjoy baking.

  18. I am a new follower. Your bag is too cute! I love it! My hobby is crocheting, primarily baby afghans. I like making baby afghans because they are fairly quick and easy to make---almost instant gratification! I like that!

  19. Hi Brenda, I have your link on my site and come by often -- but don't officially follow. So you don't need to put me in your draw, but just the same, I want to tell you what beautiful work is evident in the photos of the bag. When I was younger, I did quite a few crafts and for 6 years was part of a quilting group, but now my hands become numb very quickly with such activity. So my hobby, and not unhappily so (everything has its season!), is now reading. -- I don't scrapbook enough to call it a hobby, but it's getting to be a duty as I'm more than a year behind!

  20. Yo, B!
Like the bag, and I visit you blog quite frequently, as I feel an obligation to feed your hamster, as I helped name him. :D
For now my hobby is to look at different things to sew, but I never get around to it. I guess you could call my baking a hobby.

    Lot's of love
    J
