Silver spoon and silly sisters!

If you are not familiar with the wandering silver spoon, check out my older posts about it.

As most of you know, my baby sister ( 3 years younger than I), arrived here from Canada last week. She's currently studying "something in languages" in Langley, B.C. (Sorry, J, I forgot what its called) Her name is Andrea, but we all call her J.

On Tuesday, my sisters, C and J came over to my house for Tereré. We were having a lovely sister-sister chat, and I told my sisters I was having some problems with one of my dear daughters. Because I was really struggling with this, I didn't explain too much, but hoped they would understand and maybe be able to give me some advice or a back rub:)

We had a good time and they went home again.

That evening C sent me a message on my phone: "Matthew 7: 7&8."

I looked it up and it says:

"Ask and it will be given to you;

seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives;

he who seeks finds;

and to him who knocks,

the door will be opened."

I immediately broke out in tears (I cry easily:) and thought about the book C had lent me: "The Strong-Willed Child" by Dr. Dobson. I was thinking she gave me the perfect advice. I should ask the Lord for wisdom, I should have looked for an answer. And I found the answer to my problem in this book.

I wrote back to C: "Thanks, so simple and yet so hard. I was praticing throwing today: throwing my worries on Him. We had a better day today, PTL"

Fast forward to today, Friday, chilly weather.

C writes an SMS: Coffee or Maté? (Maté is the hot version of Terere, a yerba tea)

I write: Will be drinking terere with Marv.

She writes: Are you knitting something? Good weather for that!
(since when is she interested in my knitting?)

I write: I interrupted knitting my sweater for your slippers (the ones she asked me to make for her), first one done, will start the second one now.

She writes: No rush! Have a good day!
(what was that all about?)

Then she writes: Waiting for a cutlery comment

AHHHHHHHH! Now I get it!!!
I raced to my knitting basket, throw everything out, and find: THE SILVER SPOON!

She called me later and apologized for messing with me. Then she said, she had sent the verse, hoping I would start looking for the spoon. And I thought, she was sending me loving advice.

I just have to say, the Lord works in mysterious ways. Because the scripture she sent was just right.

I threatened C with revenge, but actually all I want to give her is a hug.

I love my sisters!!!

P.S. Caroline, I'm letting Grayson eat your slippers, sorry:)

  2. Now, I wish I had given you a back rub or some sisterly advice! But then you wouldn't have been able to write this great post on your blog?! (Happy Blog-Birthday, by the way!)We just weren't there long enough!
    So, though we were just being silly, I have to agree that God does work in mysterious ways. He works through the ordinary and the simple and yes, even through the silly things we experience daily. So, I'm glad that what I intended for fun, was in fact used by God to encourage you, and I thank Him for that!
    Love you lots, and You can count on that hug!
